Ecclesiastes 4:12 (NKJV) Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
The first illustration here has to do with protection against attacks. An attacker may overpower a victim who is alone, but two people can usually fend off an attacker. There is safety in numbers. This is true spiritually as well. We often fall prey to Satan when we are alone. But when we seek help from other believers for advice, counsel and accountability, we often can stand firm in our faith and resist temptations. The second illustration here has to do with strength. Three strands twisted together are more than three times as strong as three individual strands. There is strength in unity. This is true spiritually as well. Unity in the local church and in the body of Christ makes for an unbeatable army of believers, and the gates of hell cannot triumph over them. Both illustrations stress the need for believers to stand together in order to persevere. And the key is to stand together in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior.
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
