Philippians 3:13-14 (NKJV) 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Apostle Paul is saying that he is not yet fully spiritually matured. But there are so many believers who think they know it all. Paul however had made his life simple by leaving the past behind and not letting it handicap his future spiritual growth. Paul lives in the present in the anticipation of growing and developing in the future. Paul presses forward, growing and developing each day. You may say, that each day Paul becomes a little more like Jesus and a little less like himself. Paul makes every effort to grow and develop because he knows that one day he will be in the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. My friends, we are going to called up into the presence of Christ. We will be given a glorified body and we are going to be like Jesus. This is the prize, the reason if you will, that Paul presses forward. Now let’s be clear, Paul is not talking about working for salvation. Salvation is a gift from God through the shed blood of His Son Jesus Christ. What Paul is talking about is simply this, one day Jesus will return, and when He does return will you be found praising His name, or will you be ashamed at His appearing. The Apostle John said, “And now, little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming” (1 John 2:28 NKJV). My friends, how are you living your life? Is your life praising the name of Christ?

God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
