2 Samuel 23:4 (NKJV) And he shall be like the light of the morning when the sun rises, A morning without clouds, Like the tender grass springing out of the earth, By clear shining after rain.
God made a covenant with David. God promised that the Messiah would come through the lineage of David. This promise, provided for David the promise of posterity, authority, and a kingdom that would last forever. The coming of the Lord Jesus Christ is the same promise given to Eve in the Garden of Eden. It is the same promise given to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. David is concerned about God’s promise. David says: “Although my house is not so with God, Yet He has made with me an everlasting covenant, Ordered in all things and secure. For this is all my salvation and all my desire; Will He not make it increase?” David is saying, “I am not worthy of this.” This may have been true of David. But by God’s grace, God made a covenant with David. This is true of us as well, my friends. If we would have gotten what we justly deserved, God would never have established the New Covenant between Himself and those who would believe in His Son Jesus Christ. God has made this covenant in John 3:16. God did not make this covenant because of who we are. God made this covenant because of what Jesus did for us on the cross on Calvary. And my friends, you can depend upon God to keep His promise. By grace alone in Christ alone we are saved.
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
