2 Timothy 2:19 (NKJV) Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”
The Apostle Paul’s concern about false teachings making its way into the church and unbelievers being accepted into the local church are still concerns for today. In many churches, it is hard to tell true Christians from unbelievers. World views and false doctrine have made its way into many local churches today. And it is devastating. “Nevertheless, the solid foundation of God stands.” This means that the truth of God’s Word will endure in spite of the spiritual decline in the professing church. And the mark of a true believer is the Word of God. God told His people, “You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates” (Deuteronomy 6:8-9 NKJV). The Word of God identifies true believers. And “Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” The world will know that you are a true child of God by these two things: the Word of God, and being separated from evil and separated unto Christ. My friends, if you call yourself a Christian, then be sure you are not living in sin. Unfortunately, many believers forfeit their faith to satisfy their physical desires. They turn away from God in order to live a life of sin. And they make up excuses for it, they try to justify their sin. Instead of agreeing with God that it is sin. My friends, God knows who are His because He can discern the heart, but all unbelievers can see is how you live your life. My friends, is your life backing up your confession? Is your life saying to others that you are a true believer?
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
