Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (NKJV) 9 Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor. 10 For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, For he has no one to help him up.
Solomon is making an observation here. He has noticed that there is an advantage for teaming up with someone else. But as we can see it is a selfish reason. Solomon says that two can produce more than one, and therefore two can have a greater profit than one. Solomon is talking about material gains, here. But remember Solomon’s overall analysis, he said “I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit” (Ecclesiastes 1:14 NKJV). Neither all the education in the world, or all the money in the world will solve the problems of life. Why? Because the human nature is not changed by intellect or by wealth, nor can these things correct the old nature of man. Only God can give you a new nature in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior. Solomon makes another observation about teaming up with someone else. He says that if one of the two gets injured on the job, then the other can help. But if you are working alone and get injured, then there is no one there to help you. That makes good sense for safety reasons, you should team up with another. And this makes good sense for our spiritual growth. It is good to have someone to help us in our walk with God. Someone who we can be accountable to, someone who can pick us up when we fall into sin, and someone who can teach us the Word of God.
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
