Colossians 1:15 (NKJV) He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
How is the Lord Jesus Christ the image of the invisible God? Well, consider who the Lord Jesus Christ is. In John 1:1, it says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (NKJV). Then, the Apostle John said in verse 14, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14 NKJV). The Lord Jesus Christ is God, the Second Person of the Triune Godhead. He is Elohim; God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. And the Lord Jesus Christ became flesh. Because Jesus is God, God the Son. And He was born of a Virgin and became flesh. This is how the Lord Jesus Christ became the image of the invisible God. Because Jesus is the everlasting Son who became flesh. And Jesus is “the first born of every creature.” This reveals Jesus’ relationship to the Father, and it reveals Jesus’ position in the Trinity. Jesus is the everlasting Son, that is His position in the Trinity. Jesus is the Son. And He is Lord over all creation. For in John 1:1-3 (NKJV), we are told, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.” The Lord Jesus Christ always existed, because He is the everlasting Son. And all things were made through Him. Meaning, Jesus is the Creator. Jesus created all things. Jesus stepped down from heaven and clothed His deity in humanity. He was born of a Virgin, and He lived a sinless life. Jesus willingly went to the Cross in obedience to the Father to fulfill His plan of salvation. Jesus was raised from the dead and ascended into heaven where He is seated at the right hand of the Father. The Lord Jesus Christ is the Second Person of the Triune Godhead. Jesus is the everlasting Son.
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
