Mark 13:33-37 (NKJV) 33 Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is. 34 It is like a man going to a far country, who left his house and gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the doorkeeper to watch. 35 Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming—in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning— 36 lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. 37 And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!”
What are we as believers ought to be doing while we are waiting for Christ’s return? The Lord Jesus Christ says “watch and pray.” And what does it mean to watch? It is to be ready. And how do we ready ourselves for Jesus’ Second Coming? It is by studying God’s Word and living it. That means, we need to be productive Christians while we wait for Christ to return. We need to be doing the work that God has ordained us to do. My friends, you have a task to do within the body of Christ. You have a role to play in getting the Word out, the message of salvation, the gospel of Jesus Christ. We all do, and we ought to be busy at fulfilling that task. And we ought to be praying for God’s help in fulfilling that task. For the Lord Jesus Christ will demand a report of us at His return. My friends, we as believers can watch for Christ’s return in anxiety and fear, meaning we simply wait around and do nothing, and we wonder if we are truly saved. Or we can live out our faith and look with great anticipation for that blessed hope and glorious appearing of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
