John 6:35-37 (NKJV) 35 And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. 36 But I said to you that you have seen Me and yet do not believe. 37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.

Christ is the Manna, the Bread, who came down from heaven and gave His life for the world that we may have life eternal. The Lord Jesus Christ is the Bread of life. Salvation is in a person and His name is Jesus. You want to go to heaven? Well, the only way to the Father in heaven is by faith in His Son Jesus Christ. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved” (John 3:16-17 NKJV). Here we have an invitation from the Father to come to Christ His Son for salvation. And this invitation is backed up by a promised that the Father made to His Son before the foundation of the world, before time began, before creation. God the Father promised that all who would believe in His Son, He would give to His Son, and they shall have eternal life. Salvation is a free gift from God. But you have to choose to accept God’s gift of salvation. Now, God is a sovereign God. And He has predestined those who will be saved. This is called election. But God has also given us a free will. I don’t know how to reconcile these two truths to the satisfaction of all. But they are both true, election and free will. The Father gives people to Christ His Son, but people have to come to Christ. And the ones who come to Jesus by faith are apparently whom the Father gives to His Son. I don’t know how God predestines people to be save, but I know that God has given to us a free will and we have to exercise it. You see, my friends, we can debate election and free will all day long. But Jesus puts both of them together when He said, “All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out” (John 6:37 NKJV). My friends, if you come to Jesus of your own free will, you are part of the elect. This is such a wonderful truth.

God Bless, and have a great day in God’s Word.
