1 Samuel 7:12 (NKJV) Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen, and called its name Ebenezer, saying, “Thus far the Lord has helped us.”
The name Ebenezer means “stone of help.” “Thus far the Lord has helped us.” This stone is a stone of remembrance, looking at how God helped us in the past. This is also a stone of recognition, giving thanks to God for His help. It is a stone of the present, seeing how God is helping us today. It is also a stone of revelation, knowing that God will help us. It was a stone for the future, relying on God for our time of need. My friend, if you are a believer, then has God brought you up to this point in your life? Is God leading you today? Is God guiding your steps? If God has, then you can say, “Thus far the Lord has helped me.” And because God has helped you in the past, and up to the present time. Then you can trust God to help you in the future. I am sure that every believer can say, “Thus far the Lord has helped me.” And for this reason, Joshua said, “… But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15 NKJV). The Lord is good. He is the One who helped us. He is the One that is helping us. And He is the One who will help us. It is important for us to recognize how God is working in our lives. For His help, past, present and future is a pillow for a tired heart.
God Bless and have a Happy New Year in God’s Word.
