Philippians 4:8-9 (NKJV) 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. 9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
Here we have the briefest biography of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Christ is the One who is True, Noble or Honest, Just or Righteous, Pure, Lovely or Gracious, and of Good Report or Courageous. Christ “… is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners …” (Hebrews 7:26 NKJV). My friend, we need to be more like Christ. Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Christ is the One we can praise and worship today. My friend, if we are going to spend our time in the sins of the world, then there will not be power in our lives. This is why there are so many weak believers. They are spending their time with the sins of the world. Then they ack surprised when there is no power in their lives. We need to clean up our lives. We need to get right we God. How much time do you spend reading and meditating on the Word of God? How much time do you spend communicating with God in prayer? My friend, if you want to grow spiritually, then you need to spend time with God. To have power in our lives we need Christ. We must abide in Him, then He will abide in us. And the way that we abide in Christ is by getting into the Word of God. The Word of God is like a mirror, and in it we behold the glory of God and are changed into the same image of Christ more and more. My friend, the more time we spend in the Word of God the more we become like Christ. We become a little more like Christ and a little less like us. But it is sad that people come to church and expect to be entertained. Meaning, they don’t want to hear the truth of God’s Word, but rather what their itching ears want to hear. That is why they wonder if the Pastor wrote the sermon specifically for them when they are convicted by the Holy Spirit, and they get upset over it. They even are so bold to accuse the Pastor for writing the sermon specifically for them. This only goes to show how immature some believers are. They are still spiritual babies. Oh, how we need to spend more time with God. Only the Word of God can bring growth and power in our lives. The Word of God is our spiritual nourishment. The only way for us to grow spiritually is to spend time in the Word of God. The Word of God reveals the Lord Jesus Christ to us. Christ becomes real in our lives when we spend time with Him by reading the Word of God and meditating on God’s Word. Many of us needs to put worldly things aside and get into the Word of God where we can focus on Christ, worship Him, and praise Him. We need to get into the Word of God and apply the truth of His Word to our lives. We need to make Christ the very center of our lives.
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
