Philippians 1:27-30 (NKJV) 27 Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel, 28 and not in any way terrified by your adversaries, which is to them a proof of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that from God. 29 For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake, 30 having the same conflict which you saw in me and now hear is in me.
We as believers ought to behave according to the Word of God. Not only should we guard our tongue, but we should be careful to apply what we believe to our entire way of life. There ought to be consistency between what we say and what we do. We ought to be faithful to the gospel of Christ. In addition, we ought to “stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel.” My friends, we face a common enemy. Therefore, we should not be causing strife and fighting each other, rather we ought to be united against our enemy and striving together for the faith of the gospel. And not in any way terrified by the enemies of God, which is to them a proof of their eternal punishment and damnation. But to us it is a sign of salvation as we brave the wrath of our enemies. For it is a privilege that has been granted to us to suffer for Christ as well as to believe in Him, this is the high calling of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Paul certainly suffered for Christ, and he saw it as a blessing. No enemy could do him harm because as Paul said, “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21 NKJV). My friends, the most important thing in our lives is to have the reality of Jesus Christ in our lives. When Christ is real in our lives who can do us any harm? To live is Christ, and to die is gain. Another reason why having a fellowship with Christ is so important is so that our joy might be full. Then we will have a powerful witness for our lives would be consistent with what we say.
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
