Galatians 5:22-23 (NKJV) 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.
My friends, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ wants us to fruit in our lives, He wants us to have more fruit, and He wants us to have much fruit. However, Jesus said, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5 NKJV). This is so very important for fruit bearing. You see my friends, we cannot of ourselves produce the kind of fruit that Jesus wants in our lives. The fruit that Jesus wants is produced by Him through the Holy Spirit of God who dwells within us. If we abide in Christ, then the Holy Spirit of God can work in our lives to produce the fruit of the Spirit. This means that the fruit of the Spirit is only produced in our new nature. Our old nature does not want anything to do with God, and therefore, it cannot bear fruit. But the question is, how are we going to let the Holy Spirit produce in us the fruit of the Spirit? It is by submission and obedience. We have to submit ourselves to the Holy Spirit and we have to obey Him. That is, we need to do what He tells us to do. And what the Holy Spirit tells us, and equips us, to do needs to be done in Love. But not just any type of love. It must be done with the love produced in us by the Holy Spirit. And this love is agape love. For agape love is necessary for all the other fruits in our lives. We cannot give joy and peace without agape love. We cannot be longsuffering without agape love. We cannot express kindness, goodness, faithfulness and gentleness without agape love. And we cannot have self-control without agape love. Agape love is the fruit of the Spirit. And take note, my friends, we cannot produce the fruit of the Spirit by keeping the Law. Meaning, we cannot produce any fruit in our lives by our own effort, just as we cannot keep the Law. Only the Holy Spirit can produce the fruit of the Spirit in our lives. Therefore, the question is my friends, are you letting the Holy Spirit produce the fruit of the Spirit in your life?
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
