Jude 20-21 (NKJV) 20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

Staying close to the Lord Jesus Christ is how we live in fellowship with Him. Jude tells us how to draw close to Jesus. First, “building yourselves up on your most holy faith.” We build up ourselves on faith by studying and obeying the Word of God. Knowing the Word of God is good, but we must also apply it to our lives. We have to make the effort to make God’s will our will. We need to walk the talk, as the old saying goes. Or as Paul says, we need to live out our testimony. That is the joy of Christian living. Second, is “praying in the Holy Spirit.” Meaning, we ought to include in our prayers praise and worship and thanksgiving to God. Also, when we pray, we ought to pray for the will of God, not just for a list of things that we want. We ought to pray for God’s will to be done. Third, we are to keep ourselves in the love of God by staying out of sin. We ought to live holy and godly lives. But if we should fall into sin, then we should confess and forsake it immediately. My friends, we should let nothing come between us and God. And finally, we should with great anticipation “looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.” We should be ready for Christ’s imminent return. We are to keep this blessed hope burning in our hearts, eager for Christ’s return. These four things: “building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life” will help us to draw close to the Lord Jesus Christ and live in fellowship with Him.

God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
