John 15:9-17 (NKJV) 9 “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. 10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. 11 “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. 12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. 14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. 17 These things I command you, that you love one another.
My friends, one of the fruits of the Spirit is joy. Jesus said, “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.” A life in fellowship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is a joyful life. The fruit of the Spirit is love. And Jesus said, “This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” It is sad to see Christians tearing one another down and gossiping about each other. They are not obeying Jesus’ commandment. And they are not yielding to the Holy Spirit of God. For only the Holy Spirit can produce agape love in our lives. And this kind of love is willing to die for one another. My friends, we are called for this type of devotion. This is the test for whether or not you are walking in the Spirit. And it is also the test for whether or not you are a friend of Jesus. For Jesus said, “You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.” Jesus made it very clear, we are His friends when we keep His commandments. And His commandment is clear. We are to “love one another.” Jesus has opened His heart to us. He has revealed the Word of God and the will of God to us. Jesus has shown us compassion, mercy and grace. This is how we are to love one another. For we are chosen by God. We are His children through faith in Jesus Christ His Son. And God’s purpose for our lives is that we should produce much fruit. This does not mean that we should be busy bodies in the church. What we do for God must be in accordance with His Word and His will. And the key to knowing the will of God is to abide in Christ, then when we ask God for understanding, He will give it to us. And the key to abiding in Christ is to keep His commandment which He repeats, “These things I command you, that you love one another.” My friends, this should be the relationship of believers.
God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
