Psalm 111:1-6 (NKJV) Praise the Lord! I will praise the Lord with my whole heart, In the assembly of the upright and in the congregation. 2 The works of the Lord are great, Studied by all who have pleasure in them. 3 His work is honorable and glorious, And His righteousness endures forever. 4 He has made His wonderful works to be remembered; The Lord is gracious and full of compassion. 5 He has given food to those who fear Him; He will ever be mindful of His covenant. 6 He has declared to His people the power of His works, In giving them the heritage of the nations.

This psalm begins with a call to the faithful to praise God in private and in public without embarrassment or interruption. For “the works of the Lord are great.” Now notice the works for which God is to be praised in verses 2 through 4: “His work is honorable and glorious, And His righteousness endures forever. He has made His wonderful works to be remembered; The Lord is gracious and full of compassion.” The works of the Lord are wonderful displays of His glory and majesty. Of which the greatest of God’s works in the Old Testament, to the Jews, is their deliverance from Egypt. And God “will ever be mindful of His covenant.” The Passover is an enduring memorial of Israel’s salvation by the blood of the lamb. It is a lasting memorial of God’s grace and mercy. In the Lord’s Supper, Jesus established a new memorial of the new covenant of our salvation by the blood of the perfect Lamb of God. It is an unforgettable reminder of what our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ did for us on the cross on Calvary. “The Lord is gracious and full of compassion.” And God is faithful to the promises He has made. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” And “He will ever be mindful of His covenant.” For one day Christ will return for all who are His by faith. And one day, Israel will occupy all of the “Promise Land” under the mighty and righteous reign of the Lord Jesus Christ.

God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
