1 Thessalonians 2:13 (NKJV) For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.

Paul said, “For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance, as you know what kind of men we were among you for your sake” (1 Thessalonians 1:5 NKJV). This is how the gospel is to be given out. There are many people who criticize preachers, to them I want to say, “When someone is presenting the gospel and it is going out in the power of the Holy Spirit, it ought to be received as the Word of God.” My friends, do you receive the Word of God as the Word of God? Or do you get angry at the preacher? If you do, then you must feel that the preacher gave that sermon specifically for you. And to that, I say to you, you are giving yourself an added sense of importance that is not justified. But more importantly, you are not receiving the Word of God as the Word of God. For if you do receive the Word of God as the Word of God, then it will be able to work in you. My friends, if you do not receive the Word of God as the Word of God, then you are wasting your time in church. The Word of God is salt, and salt stings when it gets into an open wound of sin. The Word of God is also a light, and light reveals the evil deeds that are kept in the darkness. For these two reasons people get irritated when the Word of God is preached. Again, my friends, how are you receiving the Word of God?

God Bless and have a great day in God’s Word.
